The lower terrace area of the house and garden

I managed to restore some of the dry stone wall structure of the original terraces after the excavating machinery had left the site. In the photo you can see the lower stones are more firmly bonded that the ones I added on top.
This is a shady spot, early evening in July.

To the right is a view under the apricot tree across the lower level of the garden. There is a small lemon tree in the centre foreground and a hedge of ´gandules´ to the right. Ahead is a patch of shade from the ´garden in the sky´.

´Gandules´ make a lazy man´s hedge as they grow so rapidly and steal the surface water from other plants nearby to do so. (This accounts for the small lemon tree). They do make a strong, glossy green edging to an area and I prefer them to a cypress hedge. My idea of a garden is that it should have a natural look and be easy to look after. No English roses.
