The main room of the villa looks out on to this terrace with pool and plants. The leaves on the right in the foreground are of a carob tree, algarrobo in Spanish. This particular carob is only about 14 years old. It shades the cook at the built-in barbecue in the left foreground. And the feature has other uses too - storage! I think barbecues are a disastrous method of cooking but can be fun on summer evenings when we gather dry leaves and
other debris from the garden plants as kindling to light the charcoal.
other debris from the garden plants as kindling to light the charcoal. This is how the house looks from next door. The terrace (in the photo above) is at the other side of the house.
Beyond and above you get a glimpse of the summit of one of the hills behind the house.
A bedroom window looks out towards a village on a facing slope about five minutes walk away. The four narrow windows with splendid views ar
e all in the main room of the house.
The view across the front of the house. It is November and the firewood is for the stove we use in the winter evenings to come.
Below is the view inland towards the village.
